Word-association triplets related to radicalism-conservation an d authoritarianism-equalitarianism attitudes were developed. The 2 sets of triplets, together with some neutral triplets, were combined into a single test which was administered with scales for the appropriate attitudes. When compared with Lent's C-R Opionnaire (reliability of 0.837), the correlation with radicalism-conservatism was 0.42. This indicated the validity of the triple technique for measuring different attitudes. With the California F-scale as a continuum for the authoritarianism-equalitarianism attitudes, the resulting correlation of 0.18 indicated the failure of word-association triplets to measure this attitude. The adequacy of the F-scale as a criterion is questioned.
